Lebanon Condemns Israeli Airstrike Destroying Primary Healthcare Centre in Tyre.

Lebanon’s Ministry of Health has strongly condemned an Israeli airstrike that completely destroyed a primary healthcare centre in the southern coastal city of Tyre, marking yet another escalation in cross border hostilities. In an official statement, the ministry detailed that the Israeli military directly targeted the facility, reducing it to rubble and causing extensive structural damage to the adjacent Hiram Hospital. The blast not only levelled the health centre but also inflicted significant destruction on the hospital premises, which narrowly escaped a direct hit.

According to the ministry, at least six members of the medical staff at Hiram Hospital were wounded in the attack, though no fatalities have been reported so far. The ministry expressed outrage over what it described as Israel’s “continued criminal approach” against medical and ambulance crews, accusing the Israeli military of persistently and systematically striking Lebanon’s health sector. The statement emphasized that such actions constitute a clear and repeated violation of the Geneva Conventions, which explicitly guarantee the protection of medical facilities, units, and hospitals during armed conflicts. Lebanese officials have called on the international community to intervene and hold Israel accountable for what they term a blatant disregard for international humanitarian law.
