Bitcoin ETFs Lose $1 Billion in a Week First Big Pullback in Six Weeks
After six straight weeks of pulling in money, spot Bitcoin ETFs just hit a wall. Last week, investors pulled out a total of $1 billion breaking a hot streak that had brought in $3.4 billion before that.
The week started quietly enough. Monday saw a small inflow of about $27 million. But things turned fast on Tuesday, when $233 million left the funds. Wednesday was the worst day: over $635 million fled. Thursday offered a brief breather with $131 million coming back in, but Friday wiped that out with another $290 million leaving.
By the end of the week, total net assets in Bitcoin ETFs stood at $104.29 billion. Cumulative net inflows since launch are still positive at $58.34 billion.
So where is the money going? Analysts at Bitunix say capital is shifting hard toward two big stories: AI and crypto regulation. Stocks like Nvidia, Google, and Apple hit new highs, and AI chipmaker Cerebras jumped 70% on its first trading day. In crypto, the CLARITY Act a major market structure bill passed a key Senate committee, sending Coinbase shares up and pushing Bitcoin back near $82,000.
Still, Bitcoin looks shaky. Analysts note heavy short selling between $82,400 and $82,600, with $80,000 as a key support level. They describe the market as “high leverage volatility,” waiting on three big themes: AI growth, U.S.,China tensions, and crypto rules.
Meanwhile, Ethereum ETFs had an even rougher week. They posted outflows every single day totaling $254 million with Tuesday alone losing $130 million. Total net assets in Ether ETFs fell to $12.93 billion.
