Barau Submits APC Nomination Forms for 2027 Senate Re-Election Bid

Deputy President of the Senate, Barau I. Jibrin, has officially submitted his Expression of Interest and Nomination forms to contest for another term in the Senate under the platform of the All Progressives Congress ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The forms were submitted on Thursday in Abuja during a gathering attended by party officials, political supporters, and associates. The move confirms Barau’s intention to seek re-election as the senator representing Kano North Senatorial District.

According to a statement released by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ismail Mudashir, the Deputy Senate President submitted the completed forms at about 1:45 p.m. at the Treasures Suites and Conferences Hotel in Abuja, where the APC designated venue for the exercise was located.

During the submission, Barau thanked the people of Kano North Senatorial District for their continued support and confidence in his leadership over the years.

He stated that his political commitment remains focused on addressing the challenges facing constituents across the district and improving their welfare through development-focused initiatives.

Barau said his administration would continue to prioritise projects and programmes that directly impact the lives of residents in the 13 local government areas that make up Kano North Senatorial District.

According to him, public service and politics should be centred on improving the lives of citizens rather than personal interests.

The APC has begun internal preparations ahead of the 2027 elections, with aspirants across different political offices already purchasing and submitting nomination forms.

Barau, who currently serves as the Deputy President of the Senate, is regarded as one of the most influential political figures from Kano State within the ruling party. His re-election bid is expected to strengthen political activities within Kano APC structures ahead of the next election cycle.

The submission of nomination forms marks the formal beginning of the APC’s candidate selection process for the 2027 elections. Political stakeholders across the country have intensified consultations, endorsements, and strategic alliances as parties prepare for what is expected to be a highly competitive electoral season.

Kano State remains one of Nigeria’s most politically significant states due to its large voting population and influence in northern politics. As a senior figure in the National Assembly and a key APC leader from the region, Barau’s political decisions are likely to shape alignments within the party ahead of the elections.

His declaration also comes at a time when several lawmakers and political office holders are openly confirming their ambitions for another term in office amid growing political realignments across the country.

Barau’s submission of APC nomination forms officially signals his intention to return to the Senate in 2027. With support from party loyalists and his established political influence in Kano North, the Deputy Senate President is positioning himself early for the upcoming electoral contest.

The development adds to the growing momentum within the APC as the ruling party begins preparations for the next general election cycle.
