A Grandfather’s Dark Secret: 70 Year Old Man Held for Raping 10 Year Old Neighbor in Bauchi.

In a deeply disturbing case from Bauchi State, police have arrested a 70 year old man, Hamza Yahaya, for allegedly raping a 10 year old girl in the Magama Gumau area of Toro Local Government.

The girl’s father, a 40 year old resident, walked into the Toro Police Division on May 15, 2026, with his young daughter. Together, they reported that the elderly suspect had lured the child to a hidden spot within the neighborhood and sexually assaulted her.

But when detectives brought Yahaya in for questioning, he denied this particular incident. Instead, he shocked investigators by freely admitting that he had sexually abused the same minor on three separate occasions before all in the same hideout.

Both the victim and the suspect were taken to the General Hospital in Toro for medical checks and treatment. The case has since been moved to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Bauchi for deeper investigation and prosecution.

The state Commissioner of Police, CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu, has promised that the law will take its full course. He also pleaded with parents and guardians to keep a closer watch on their children and report anything suspicious immediately.

Police also nabbed a 19 year old, Bashir Usman, on May 16, 2026, for stealing a red Haojue motorcycle. He was caught during a routine patrol in the Gwallameji area. During questioning, Usman admitted he snatched the bike from a student hostel. The hunt is now on to find the rightful owner.
